WEDDING LOCATIONS & TIMING

Q. WHICH IS BETTER? A SUNSET WEDDING, a MORNING WEDDING or a midday wedding?

A.  Both sunset and sunrise mornings provide the most ideal lighting for weddings. Morning sunrise weddings provide a more creamy soft type of lighting and normally there are very few if any people on the beach during that time of day.  While a sunset wedding offers warmer red and gold lighting, it also allows time for dramatic dusk/night photos with off camera flash.   We don't normally recommend having ceremonies during high noon. Although it is possible the light between the hours of 11am-2pm can be harsh and is not the most flattering while in the open sun.

Q. CAN WE HAVE CHAIRS OR ARCHES ON THE BEACH FOR OUR WEDDING?

A. Unfortunately Hawaii State Law does not allow chairs, arbors or any other structures besides a cake table and loose flowers on public beaches. We recommend choosing from one of our private wedding venues for weddings with more guests and decorations.

Q. WHAT SIZE WEDDING DO YOU RECOMMEND FOR A OAHU BEACH WEDDING?

A. Hawaii Parks and Recreations Permit up to 30 people for a public beach wedding. If you are looking to have more guests then we would recommend choosing from one of our private wedding venues. Capacity varies depending on venue.

Q. CAN I HAVE A 'MID DAY' OR 'AFTERNOON' WEDDING START TIME?

A. We don't normally recommend having ceremonies during high noon but it is possible.  We would like to advise that the light between the hours of 11am-2pm can be harsh and is not the most flattering for photography.

Q. WHAT HAPPENS IF IT RAINS?

A. Passing showers are common in Hawaii and isn't much of a concern.  If it looks like the currently selected beach location will be rainy, we will try to find another beach to relocate to.  If the whole island is under heavy rain with no possible chance of relocation then we will try to re-schedule for another nearby date granted all of the vendors (i.e. photographer, officiant, musician etc...) are available.  If relocation and re-scheduling is not an option then we will have to simply move forward with the contracted day as planned.

Q. We want to do more than just beach photos. can we venture to different locations?

A. Definitely!  Based on the package you choose, the photography time allows you to travel to as many photo locations as you want as long as it is within the contracted photography time.  Please note that the travel time from one location to the next does cut into the photography time.
